We’re resurrecting an old classic: the KHL Book Club. We at KHL believe that reading should be fun, and we (our students and ourselves) should be doing more of it. In this book club, we’ll explore works of contemporary fiction, looking for the best things that novels can offer: entertainment and a deeper understanding of the human experience. Join us for some summer reading fun! Book club will be held on Thursdays at 6:30pm, beginning June 27th.

Checkers is for kids, but chess is for champions. Gain expert tutelage in the centuries-old classic game, and vanquish your competitors. Learn the basics, and master the gambits. Join us for chess club, and you too can say, “veni, vidi, vici.” Chess Club will be held on Thursdays at 6:30pm, beginning on July 11th.

Lights! Camera! KHL Film Club! Join us this summer for Monday movie nights at the KHL cafe hosted by Caleb. Each Monday, we'll watch a movie highlighting a different aspect of filmmaking (directing, cinematography, screenwriting, etc.) and follow it up with some lively discussion. If you love eating popped corn, watching fun flicks, and developing a love for the greatest artistic medium, this will be the club for you! Film Club will be held on Mondays at 6:30, beginning July 1st.

Want to try your hand at writing, but don’t know where to start? Whether you want to chronicle real-life experiences or conjure stories straight from your imagination, learn how and where to get started! Work with our MFA-trained English tutors to learn the ins and outs of how a story works— and how to get started writing your own. The Creative Writing Seminar will be held from 6:30-8:30 on Wednesdays July 10th and 31st.

After a student’s GPA is calculated and their test scores are in, the last piece of the college admissions puzzle is a great personal narrative. Join KHL Co-Founder Nathan Kastner for a two-hour crash course on how to tell your story. The College Essay Seminar will be held from 6:30-8:30 on Wednesdays June 26th and July 24th.
