In 2012, Caleb moved to Texas from California to attend Concordia University Texas. He had many academic interests and an eagerness to try them all. He studied psychology, sociology, history, religion, theatre, law, and literature. During his junior year, he spent a semester abroad in Prague, Czech Republic and traveled around Europe to further explore his passions. In his senior year at CTX, he discovered his love of fiction writing, a pursuit that would allow him to study anything and everything he ever wanted to learn about.
After graduating with a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Studies: English and Psychology, Caleb searched for opportunities to further study writing. He attended the Iowa Summer Writing Festival and began an internship with the Writers’ League of Texas, which he still volunteers with today. He interned with the local ghostwriting company Cider Spoon Stories and helped transcribe interviews for the book Of Tiny Threads: Stories About American Marriage. His teaching journey then began in the fall of 2017, tutoring students in test prep and coaching them on their college admissions essays and resumés. In 2019, Caleb became an Adjunct Instructor of Technical Writing and World/Food History at Auguste-Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. He enjoyed the challenge of taking two classes that kept the future chefs out of the practice kitchens and turning those classes into opportunities to grow the students’ passions for exploring the world’s cuisines and communicating their passions to others. While teaching at the culinary school, Caleb pursued an M.F.A. in Creative Writing: Fiction at Queens University of Charlotte, graduating in January 2021.
In his free time, Caleb reads fiction and history, writes stories, and plays tabletop games. He believes life is about the constant pursuit of knowledge, whether in traditional classroom settings or in the oddest of places. He looks forward to sharing his passions with his students and hopes to help them discover theirs.
